Linear

The Linear integration creates a Linear issue for follow-up work from an incident. The Linear issue links back to the incident, and the incident timeline records the Linear issue.

Connect Linear

1. Open your project and select Settings in the sidebar, then the Integrations tab.
2. On the Linear card, select Connect, then approve the access in Linear.
3. If your Linear workspace has more than one team, choose the team in Linear team and select Save team.

The Linear card then shows the team under Connected.

What you need

• A project with a connected Linear team. See Connect Linear.
• An incident in the project.

Create a follow-up issue

1. Open the incident, then select the Follow-ups tab.
2. In New follow-up in Linear team, enter a title, up to 200 characters.
3. Select Create in Linear.

The new issue appears in the Follow-ups table on the same tab. The table reads the status, owner, and due date of each issue from Linear when you open the tab; Squasher does not change the issue. If you see “Reconnect Linear before you create a follow-up.”, the Linear connection has expired. Without a connected Linear team, the tab links to Integrations instead.

What Squasher sends

In Squasher, the incident timeline gets the entry “Linear follow-up <ID> created”, with the title and the URL of the Linear issue.

Limits

• Squasher creates the Linear issue as the person who connected Linear, not as the person who selects Create in Linear.
• Squasher does not create Linear issues on its own for new issues, and it does not comment on Linear issues when a fix pull request opens.
• Only incidents have Create in Linear. Issues do not.
